Wednesday Afternoons at 3.30pm One hour of high energy praise & worship, drama, teaching, dance...in fact any creative ministry that you can imagine. Be ready! This is definitely not for the faint hearted or unprepared! From 60 children in 2000 to over 500 children today the Kinderbond has exploded
in growth in the last couple of years and continues to grow. Every week at 3pm the ministry team plus visiting teams from around the world arrive for preparation and prayer in the "War Room."
The event kicks off with anointed praise & worship led from the stage...the volume at times is deafening! This is followed by a 30 minute programme of entertaining teaching that utilizes such things as drama, dance and illustration.
At the end we divide the kids into age groups and supply every single child with food and drink. This is a weekly logistical challenge which we call our "Feeding of the Five-Hundred!" Kinderbond Vision for the future.... As a team we constantly stress an important point: Kinderbond is NOT kids work but rather "Kingdom Work!" The following vision will give you an idea of where we are headed...
1. EXPOSURE Revival hit this town over 100 years ago through young people being exposed to the Holy Spirit and the things of God. Our Kinderbond programme includes extended times of anointed worship...we avoid much of the typical "children's work" methods of ministry...each Wednesday is life or death for some of our kids and time is too short to simply play at baby sitters! We encourage a wide variety of ministry from drama & dance to videos and multi-media. All with one purpose: To expose young lives to the power and presence of Jesus!
2. DEVELOPMENT
Developing over 600 children you might think impossible and at times, with limited volunteers, it isn't easy! However, there are areas where we can build desperately needed skills into these young lives. Two areas we have tackled this last year are Road Safety and Fire safety. We have already lost two children to road accidents so we invited a Transport Police Man to spend 2 weeks informing us how to cross the road. This was followed by a Fireman who gave advice on what to do in a fire. This was so important since most of our children live in shacks where paraffin lamps and open fires are the norm and in winter we see the results of this through numerous scalds and burns. At present we have a YWAM Primary Health Care Team working with us that will help with basic health education like dental care for example
3. MERCY We have identified our Mercy vision as FOOD, CLOTHES, SHELTER & HEALTH. We are busy building a structure that meets the demands of all four of these areas that constitute poverty for our children. For two years we have focussed primarily on food and clothing but more recently we have started to consider housing needs and are in the process of building a house for one of our young people whilst a YWAM Health Care Team are assisting us in monitoring the health requirements of the children.
4. PREPARATION Our long range vision is to see over 1000 children prepared for life in a relationship with Jesus and free from extreme poverty. Kinderbond is only the first step where preparation is made for the second! The second step as the children enter their teens is The GANG - God's Anointed New Generation! Here, more intensive development is offered to prepare young people to be leaders and world changers in South Africa and around the world.
